| COP POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH LAB SPECIALIST ? ID# xxxx. College of Pharmacy. Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Department of Pharmaceutical Studies, College of Pharmacy (COP), University of Hawaii at Hilo, located in Hilo, Hawaii. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, and availability of funds. DUTIES: Performs bioassay-guided fractionation of natural product extract (microbial and plant extracts), isolation, and structure determination of active molecules by using chromatographic and spectral methods. Instructs students in natural product-related techniques. Operates and maintains laboratory equipment. Orders laboratory supplies when needed. PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Ph.D. from an accredited college or university in Natural Products Chemistry, Chemistry, or related field. EXPERIENCE: Up to one (0-1) year of relevant experience, which includes working with isolation and structure elucidation of natural products. ABIL/KNOW/SKILLS: Demonstrated knowledge of isolation and structure elucidation of natural products. Knowledge of scientific writing to prepare manuscripts and reports. Proficiency in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) techniques. Good communication skills are required, both orally and in writing. SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. from an accredited college or university in Natural Products Chemistry, Chemistry, or related field. Significant knowledge in biochemistry.
